Midland, TX, July 1, 2025 – EnviroKlean, a leading specialty chemical and water treatment technology provider, announced today a major milestone: its patent-pending Zero Solids® technology has successfully recycled over 50 million barrels of produced water without creating waste solids, demonstrating EnviroKlean’s leadership in the growing field of solids-free recycling.
Traditional recycling methods, including dissolved air flotation (DAF) and “floc and float”, rely on chemical reactions that create new waste solids to remove iron and other harmful contaminants. The resulting “sludge” must then be physically removed from the water and hauled offsite for disposal, creating significant financial and environmental costs.
With solids-free recycling, the waste solids creation step is eliminated. Instead, EnviroKlean’s Zero Solids technology, combined with the power of EK One™ carbon-based chemistry, creates a closed loop system that removes harmful contaminants by permanently sequestering them “in solution”. The resulting recycled fluid streams are clear, meet the highest KPI standards, and are available for either immediate reuse or extended storage.
EnviroKlean’s Zero Solids technology and EK One chemistry are being commercialized together as the Zero Solids Recycle®(ZSR®) system, with active systems deployed throughout the Permian Basin. These ZSR systems are being deployed in both fully-manned and autonomous configurations, serving a wide range of operational needs – from the highest volume, continuous flow water recycling networks to smaller footprint sites for lower volumes, distributed locations, or intermittent flow applications.
