EnviroKlean Announces Patent Pending Status for Zero Solids™ Technology

Midland, TX – April 23, 2024 – EnviroKlean, Inc. announced today that it has achieved patent pending status for its innovative Zero Solids™ technology.  The patent filing covers the technology and applications of the technology required for closed-loop recycling of produced water – both for high-volume frac applications and for extended storage in recycling pits – that does not require the creation and subsequent disposal of solid waste.  As a result of this new technology, the goal of solids-free discharge for produced water recycling is finally achievable.

Today’s standard recycling process of dissolved air flotation (DAF) or “flock and float” requires chemical reactions that stimulate the production of waste solids to physically remove them via haul-off and disposal.  EnviroKlean’s Zero Solids™ technology essentially reverses this process by creating a closed-loop system that leverages the power of chelation within chemical reactors to create reusable frac-ready fluid streams without the need to generate solid waste.

The system that delivers this technology, EK Zero Solids Recycle™,  is now commercially available to recycle produced water for reuse without the need for solids generation and removal, providing midstream water operators with lower recycling costs, extended storage life of recycled water in storage pits, and enhanced environmental sustainability.

This new patent filing adds another key claim to EnviroKlean’s growing IP portfolio and demonstrates a continuing commitment to innovation that improves the financial and operating performance for operators while increasing sustainability for the environment.

The patent application was filed to protect the significant time and capital deployed to invent the technology powering EnviroKlean’s modular EK Zero Solids Recycle™ (“ZSR”) system.  Each ZSR modular system has a small footprint of approximately 750 square feet and has the capacity to process up to 50,000 barrels of recycled water per day to meet the most stringent KPIs.  Multiple modules can be operated in parallel for higher processing volume needs. The recycled water produced by the ZSR is clear, solids-free, and immediately available for reuse. Alternatively, ZSR recycled water can be stored in retention ponds for future fracs with an extended storage life of up to 120 days without souring.

About EnviroKlean’s Zero Solids™ Technology
Zero Solids™ is the patent-pending technology that enables produced water recycling without the need to generate solid waste, finally making the concept of solids-free discharge a reality.  Zero Solids is disrupting today’s conventional recycling methods of either dissolved air flotation (DAF) or “flock and float”, as it eliminates the need to stimulate the formation of solids to physically remove them. The Zero Solids technology leverages the power of chelation within chemical reactors to create beneficial reuse fluids that permanently sequester TSS, including the recycling and sequestration of the small remainder TSS captured within filtration systems, enabling produced water to be fully recycled for reuse without the need to create and then haul-off waste solids.

About the EK Zero Solids Recycle™ (“ZSR”) System
The EK Zero Solids Recycle™ (“ZSR”) system is revolutionizing recycle and reuse, disrupting today’s conventional recycling methods of either dissolved air flotation (DAF) or “flock and float” that stimulate the formation of solids to physically remove them.  Developed to commercialize EnviroKlean’s patent-pending Zero Solids™ technology, ZSR is a modular, closed-loop system that can be operated in either autonomous or fully manned mode.  Each module has a small footprint of less than 750 square feet and is capable of recycling 50,000 barrels per day, with the ability to add additional ZSR modules to operate in parallel for higher volume recycling needs.
