Frac Water Treatment

EPD designed a completely different chemical and mechanical treatment process to address inherent short comings without the need to change anything about your existing process or frac location.

The current method of chemically treating frac water to prevent scaling and bacteria issues is limiting your well’s performance.

Today, friction reducer, scale inhibitor, and biocide treatments are applied at the blender mostly out of convenience. This process severely limits the ability to effectively treat all water because chemical treatments are halted during the acid breakdown and flush phases. The failure to treat water at the beginning and ending of each frac stage results in an incomplete bacteria kill and elevated scaling potentials being distributed throughout the entire formation.

The mechanical process has another limitation. The traditional method of using a “bucket” to treat pumpdown water tanks fails to adequately address the biological and scale loadings in that water. This manual treatment process is not easily verified and carried out in a “best guess” fashion between all stages.

Lastly, the current treatment method and mechanical process lacks a unit of measure to evaluate the performance of the treatment applied. In other words, the industry accepts that a static treatment rate at a set PPM is adequate for biocide and scale treatments for all water. The unit of measure is simply the amount of chemicals used not how well the chemical performed. These factors result in an ineffective biocide and scale inhibitor solution that contributes to limiting your well’s performance.

EPD designed a completely different chemical and mechanical treatment process to address those inherent shortcomings without the need to change anything about your existing process or frac location. Our holistic frac water treatment process utilizes our Dynamic Fluid Mapping Treatment Technology to ensure the optimal frac water is used at all times. This process dynamically treats every barrel of water with biocide and scale inhibitor. Furthermore, our method and technology dynamically adjusts the chemical treatment rates based on constantly changing water characteristics and volume. For example, our technology will adjust the chemical amount up or down based on scaling tendency key performance indicators. Our frac ready fluid is compatible with all friction reducers (cationic and anionic) available today. EPD’s process ensures the most comprehensive and cost-effective treatment is performed.
